Christian Horner and Red Bull have been in blistering form off late with both drivers firing on all cylinders. Yes, there was a blip in Canada with Sergio Perez retiring out of the race but apart from that, their recent run of form has been brilliant. Even Charles Leclerc praised Red Bull and said that he took inspiration from Max Verstappen and would like to replicate his heroics on the track.

One team whose form has been a cause of concern has been the Silver Arrows. The team from Germany has had a lot of issues with porpoising with both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell struggling on the street circuits. We saw the full effects of the bouncing in Baku, which saw Lewis Hamilton picking up an injury by the end of the race. This forced Mercedes to ask the FIA to interfere to help them protect the drivers.

Thankfully for Mercedes, the FIA did intervene and issued a technical directive before the Canadian GP. This helped both the drivers have a relatively stable weekend with Lewis Hamilton earning his second podium of the season. It seems like Mercedes, after the Canadian GP, has decided to take it up a notch with their upgrades ahead of the much awaited British GP.

Christian Horner had said that he is aware of the threat that Mercedes carries going into the weekend. David Croft believes Red Bull’s team Principal is right. He said, “I think Christian Horner is right to say Red Bull are wary of those around them, and it’s interesting that they aren’t bringing major upgrades to the post-summer break updates.”

“This is a massive weekend for Mercedes. We went to Spain and they had a handle on the bouncing, but then we went to street circuits – Monaco, Baku and Canada – which were a lot bumpier.”

“Lewis adores Silverstone, and I’m sure he’s itching to get out in a car with upgrades, which might just be a little bit more reflective of his driving talents, rather than one he’s had to try and make the best out of so far this year.”

This could be an exciting weekend if Mercedes can put itself in the mix. We know that Lewis Hamilton would relish this challenge at home and this is definitely a threat for Christian Horner and Max Verstappen.
