Max Verstappen has been in menacing form during the ongoing 2023 Formula 1 campaign. The Red Bull’s Team Principal, Christian Horner, has even indicated that no driver on the current F1 grid can get the better of the Dutchman in the RB19. He feels Verstappen is in a league of his own this year.

After the Spanish GP, Christian Horner was asked to talk about the title prospects of his other driver, Sergio Perez. While sharing his thoughts with racingnews365.com, he said, “If you look at the points now, and there’s a big split between the two of them, I think, if anything that should take pressure off him. And he has nothing to lose now.

I think he just needs to relax. He can breathe out and just drive like we know he’s capable of, like he did in Azerbaijan and some of the early races this year.” Horner has made it known that Max Verstappen has put a significant gap between himself and Sergio Perez, but despite this, he feels it would take the pressure off of the Mexican driver.

In his opinion, Sergio Perez has nothing to lose at the current stage of the 2023 F1 World Championship and can go all out without any pressure in the upcoming F1 races. So far, the 33-year-old has managed only two Grand Prix wins compared to the Dutchman’s five stunning race wins.

While Christian Horner has urged Sergio Perez to keep pushing to close the gap with Max Verstappen, he also feels it would be an extremely difficult task. While shedding light on the same, he said, “There is not a driver out there today that would beat Max in that car. He’s [Perez] up against a driver at the top of his form.”

I think for Checo mentally, it’s a really tough thing to deal with. But as I say, now there is a separation in the points that may actually take the pressure off him a little, and the expectation he’s putting on himself. He needs to let go of that now and just be free to drive.” As things stand, Verstappen has managed 53 more points than Perez.

Considering everything that Max Verstappen has managed to showcase during this year’s F1 races and all that has been said about him by several esteemed personalities, it is likely that he will once again win the F1 World Championship by a handsome margin. He dominated his competition in 2022 and is on the same track this year.
