Daniel Ricciardo, the former eight-time Grand Prix winner, is one of the most experienced drivers on the current F1 grid. During the upcoming 2024 F1 season, he will enter his first full campaign with Visa Cash App RB (AlphaTauri), and ahead of it, he has admitted that his sole focus is on the task at hand on his current team.
Since returning to F1 last year, Daniel Ricciardo has made it clear on multiple occasions that he wants to secure the Red Bull 2025 seat. He views his ongoing VCARB stint as a launching pad toward it, but at the moment, he’s not thinking about it.
The second seat at the Milton-Keynes-based team will open up for next year and while talking on the same lines recently, he said, as reported by Racingnews365:
I look at it in a way of not looking too far ahead. So I look at it, but I don't because I really just need to focus. Especially my years at McLaren... obviously, when it doesn't go well it can really unravel quickly, so I never want to get too far ahead of myself in this sport anymore.
The 34-year-old with his reaction has made it quite clear that he’s not willing to commit the mistakes that he did during his painful stint with the McLaren F1 team. Moreover, has indicated that he is taking things day by day and will see how the initial few rounds of this year pan out. Ricciardo is doing his best to keep the 2025 Red Bull seat out of his mind for the time being.
Daniel Ricciardo will require a stellar 2024 F1 campaign
While Daniel Ricciardo has done his best to not indicate that he is not thinking about the 2025 Red Bull F1 seat, his goal since returning to F1 has been to get it once again. From next year onward, he ardently wants to replace Sergio Perez and drive for Red Bull alongside the prolific Max Verstappen.
To make a solid claim for the 2025 seat, Ricciardo would most probably be required to produce a sensational 2024 season. Moreover, it would be an ideal situation for him if he is able to assert his dominance over his VCARB teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, from the get-go.
