The most accomplished driver on the Formula 1 grid, Lewis Hamilton, takes no risks when it comes to security at Grand Prix events. He is often spotted having bodyguards around him while walking down the paddock, unlike younger drivers from big teams who don’t seem to have security. Former Red Bull driver David Coulthard has questioned why a security team accompanies Hamilton.

Amidst the Dutch Grand Prix, former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard posed an intriguing query about Lewis Hamilton’s distinctive security measures. In the Formula For Success podcast, Coulthard claimed, “He’s the only driver who actually has a security man that works with him at the track.”

Coulthard speculated that Hamilton’s decision to have a sizable group of associates around him could be attributed to generational differences compared to his fellow drivers. He is the second-oldest driver on the grid, behind Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso.

I think there’s a group of young drivers right now that seem to relate to each other. The only outlier would really be Lewis, maybe it’s because Lewis has been around for longer. You see quite a lot of the younger guys, your Georges, your Landos, and whoever else, hanging out with each other away from the racetrack,” David Coulthard said, as reported by Crash.net.

Following a brief hiatus from competition and making the most of the summer break, Hamilton returned to the paddock at Zandvoort. He’s now geared up to head with Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in the last ten races of the season, aiming to secure the second spot in the championship rankings.

Talking about this, he said, “My goal for the second half of the season is to figure out how to get the best ten races out of myself. Of course, we know performance-wise, we’re not going to blitz these races, but maximizing points every weekend, holding on to second in the Constructor’s Championship, and chasing down Perez, but that’s my goal.”

The resurgence of Lewis Hamilton and his ongoing battle with Max Verstappen put Red Bull’s Perez in a difficult situation. Perez is facing immense pressure to deliver strong performances and secure a second-place finish in the championship. Nevertheless, as Mercedes continues to enhance their performance for the second spot, Perez could encounter challenges in maintaining his standing on the leaderboard.
