However, it seems that the seven-time world champion is prepared to race for the Scuderia next year. Now, F1 pundit David Croft has shared his thoughts regarding the same.
Crofty recently posted his views on X. The Briton had always thought that Lewis Hamilton would one day join Maranello. The F1 presenter was excited to hear that 2025 seems to be the year when Hamilton finally races in red. Moreover, David Croft claimed that this move would be of the same magnitude as when the seven-time champion left McLaren to join Mercedes in 2013.
Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari! Always thought it would happen one day, finally it will and it seems as early as 2025. Seismic move just as it was when Lewis joined Mercedes and like then I don’t see the negatives.David Croft wrote on X

Lewis Hamilton ditches Mercedes for Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton has struggled in the past two seasons with Mercedes. The Silver Arrows have failed to match Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the ground-effect era of F1. Hamilton has voiced his frustration regarding Mercedes’ issues in the past. However, the 39-year-old signed a lucrative contract extension last season which was supposed to end after the 2025 season.
It seems that Hamilton’s extension with Mercedes has an exit clause for the Briton to exit the squad after 2024. The seven-time world champion will reportedly use this clause to move to Ferrari in 2025 and partner Charles Leclerc. The 39-year-old had held talks with Ferrari President John Elkann and Team Principal Fred Vasseur.
Lewis Hamilton might have been convinced by Maranello’s progress in 2023. The 39-year-old is likely to announce his departure from Mercedes soon. Certainly, this has shaken the entire grid before the start of the 2024 season. Fans would be eagerly waiting to hear the official news of Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari.
