In Formula 1 2023, Max Verstappen came off as a supreme force as he managed to win 19 out of the 22 Grands Prix held in the season. The Dutchman made winning his third World Championship look easy as he built up a difference of 295 points to his nearest competitor, Sergio Perez. Ever since vying for the F1 World title in 2021, Max has displayed a form that is superior to all his current opponents including multiple World Championship holders like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.
After securing an F1 title hattrick in the recently-ended season, Max Verstappen was pictured celebrating his achievement with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet as well as his father Jos Verstappen. Jos had been an F1 racer himself and he was a competitor against the legendary German talent Michael Schumacher. Earlier in 2024, when Max Verstappen won the Dutch GP, he was spotted celebrating his home race victory with his grandmother as well as his other family members including sister Victoria.
While fans have gotten some glimpses as Max Verstappen’s family members, his personal life remains under wraps for the most part. But some details about his childhood have been revealed, which have led the fans to think that the 26-year-old has had a nightmare of a time during his younger years. Max’s parents had separated when he was only a child, and then he lived with his father who pressurized him for results right from his karting days. Jos Verstappen has even admitted to leaving Max stranded on the road because of his disobedience. But now, some childhood pictures of Max have gone viral and fans seem to love how cute the current World Champion looked back then.
Max Verstappen’s father Jos spoke about winning through his son’s achievements
Jos Verstappen himself used to be a Formula 1 racer during the early 2000s when he clocked 106 race starts in the pinnacle of motorsports. At that time, the grid was being dominated by the likes of Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, etc. While Max has already gathered 54 Grand Prix wins ever since debuting in F1 in 2017, his father never managed to get a winner’s trophy at any of the races despite two podium finishes.
But when Jos Verstappen was asked about his son’s achievements in Formula masking his own, the Dutchman gave a wholesome reply. He explained that watching Max Verstappen race makes him feel like it is actually him who goes out on the tracks. And speaking of going back on the racetracks, Max Verstappen recently made his way home from his Switzerland vacation with girlfriend Kelly and he is expected to turn up at the Red Bull headquarters soon so that he can test the Austrian team’s 2024 challenger.
