Lewis Hamilton takes a stand in support of Tchouameni and Kolo Muani
Lewis Hamilton is one of the biggest names in Formula 1. The F1 driver has built a great reputation on and off track. Hamilton is one of the most connected personalities in the paddock, hanging out with celebrities from Hollywood and other sports. Lewis has been a key voice against racism. He has used his fame as a platform for advocating an end to racial abuse.
Recently French Football players, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Randal Kolo Muani suffered from online racial abuse. The pair were targeted after France’s defeat in the FIFA World Cup Final against Argentina. Which in turn forced the two stars to turn off the comment section on their posts. Lewis Hamilton took a stand in the support of Tchouameni and Kolo Muani, as the 37-year-old uploaded an Instagram story calling out this wrongful incident.
Lewis Hamilton expressed his lack of surprise but mentioned his displeasure. The Brit stated, “Disgusted but not surprised.” Hamilton was at the forefront of praising the two Frenchmen for their talent. He then wrote, “@aurelientchm and @r_kolomuani gave it everything.” The F1 star was also quick to point out the contribution of Aurélien and Muani in bringing France to the final of the World Cup. Hamilton continued, “they’re heroes to so many and deserve nothing but respect.”

Lewis Hamilton’s activism against racism at risk as FIA bans political statements

Hamilton has raised his voice against racial abuse in the past and advocated for equality. Hamilton played a major role in Mercedes’s black livery in 2020 and 2021 in support of the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. Lewis Hamilton himself has been a victim of racial abuse ever since his karting days. Thus, since 2020, the 37-year-old has used symbolic gestures in F1 to raise awareness. Such as the ‘Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor’ T-shirt.
However, it seems that Lewis Hamilton will have a tough time next season, as the FIA has banned any display of political statements without prior permission. Any infringement of this rule will end up in drivers getting penalized. Although, we do believe that Lewis is not a person to be afraid of standing up for what is right and would certainly hope to see the 7-time world champion defy this rule in the 2023 F1 season.

Lewis Hamilton coming in defense of fellow black sportspersons is a respectable endeavor. Lewis’s stance is necessary for making people act to end this horrible act of racism is it online or offline. We are in the 21st century, such archaic thinking cannot be tolerated. Athletes who give their 100% in every single game, do not deserve this inhumane treatment. They play not only for themselves but their country as well and they have the right to be respected.
