2023 has been a weird year for the F1 grid with Daniel Ricciardo’s presence being highly limited to the pits. After a tense season with McLaren in 2022. It was pretty clear that the partnership was a failed attempt in making the team competitive again. What resulted was the departure of the ‘Honey Badger’ from the team. Although, he also got an 18 million dollar payout during his departure.

Daniel Ricciardo was once hailed as the king of late braking overtakes. His results with Red Bull were quite impressive. However, the two horrid season with McLaren have just dropped his reputation. With a comparatively less experienced teammate in the likes of Lando Norris beating him, it was not going well for the Aussie. In an interesting turn of events, Daniel later got replaced by another fellow Aussie called Oscar Piastri.

While he still aims for a drive in 2024, Ricciardo is currently working with Red Bull as their third driver. With that being said, a move to one of the two teams that the brand owns seems imminent. However, Eddie Jordan chooses to say otherwise. He stated that Daniel Ricciardo will not be able to compete at the level that Sergio Perez has been competing against Max Verstappen.

In an interview, here is what the Ex-F1 team owner had to say. “I’ve gone through this on a number of occasions and I actually think, you know, Daniel Ricciardo is there, but there’s no way Daniel is going to do the job that Checo is doing, in my opinion,” Jordan said. “Having seen what Daniel has done, and as much as we like the guy, he’s just a fabulous person to be around, but Checo is doing a magic job.” he continued.

Daniel Ricciardo recently did a seat fitting with AlphaTauri. This has led to many suggesting that he is preparing for a probable AlphaTauri drive this season or the next. With Nyck De Vries not performing up to the levels expected from him, his seat seems to be in danger. While Daniel is out of a F1 car, it had given him a chance to lay back and enjoy the action from the pits and has reduced a lot of stress and frustration. Will Daniel ever race in Formula 1 again?
