F1 Australian GP: “Give the seat to a proper F1 driver like Daniel” – Fans react as Sergio Perez exits qualifying after beaching his car
Sergio Perez locked up into Turn 3 and was forced to retire after getting stuck on the gravel.

Sergio Perez during Qualifying
The Australian GP weekend is underway. However, things have become a nightmare for Red Bull driver Sergio Perez as the Mexican driver locked up into turn 3 and headed right into the gravel. Thankfully, the 33-year-old did not have an impact and only clipped the barrier while trying to get the car back up and running. Unfortunately, Perez is out of Qualifying and will start from the back of the grid.
The Red Bull driver was frustrated after the incident. Sergio Perez struggled during FP2 on Friday and complained about a mechanical issue on the car after this incident on the team radio. Checo stated, “We need to sort that issue man. That was the same issue again.” It seems that the Austrian team will have some work to do overnight before tomorrow’s race.
This incident has forced Red Bull to lose out on a potential front-row lockout. As Max Verstappen now bears the flag alone for Milton Keynes. Although, this has raised concerns in the paddock about the unreliable nature of the RB-19. This incident might provide a great opportunity for Aston Martin and Ferrari to perhaps upset the energy-drinks giant.

Fans are disappointed as Sergio Perez has a nightmare during Qualifying

Fans on Twitter were not happy with the Mexican driver’s performance in Q1. One user joked about how Sergio Perez was claimed to be a title contender for the championship this season. The user commented, “Title challenger to Verstappen i was told?” While another fan mentioned how the 33-year-old might be struggling to deal with the new-found pressure in 2023. The fan said, “Ohh gosh the pressure is getting to this man.”
Moreover, one fan urged Red Bull Racing to replace Sergio Perez with Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian driver is the third driver for the Austrian team and is present at this race weekend. The fan replied, “Give the seat to a proper f1 driver like Daniel.” However, another user clarified that this incident was due to the persisting issue from Friday. The user wrote, “I’ve seen this coming since fp1 car is way off and they can’t fix it, unbelievable.”
Thus, Sergio Perez is now on the back foot for the Australian GP. The claimed issue has caused the Mexican driver to be at the back of the field for the Grand Prix. This will give an advantage to Max Verstappen as the Dutchman aims to solidify his championship lead. Although, Red Bull will have some work to do to sort out these persistent reliability woes with the RB-19
