The 2024 Formula 1 season is yet to commence. However, the activities for the subsequent season have already started. Lewis Hamilton would move to Ferrari in 2025 and replace the Spaniard Carlos Sainz. Hamilton’s unexpected move to Maranello caught the 29-year-old off-guard and hence he is currently seatless for the subsequent season in Formula 1.
Hence Sainz will conclude his final season at the Italian constructor this season and push for the best results possible to enable his chances of acquiring a seat in other teams on the grid. Team principal Fred Vasseur asserted that nothing in the team changed for the 2024 season and explained how the move wasn’t easy for the driver. Additionally, the Frenchman highlighted that the call was the hardest call of his life.
I don't think anything has changed. He had a megaprofessional reaction, but I know it wasn't easy for him. It was the most difficult call of my life.Vasseur said as reported by soymotor.com.
Apart from this Vasseur recalled the 2023 season and how Sainz was the only non-Red Bull winner in the entire season. Hence, the Spaniard’s dedication was evident from his performances and the principal didn’t doubt his focus for the coming season. Additionally, the 55-year-old asserted that the team would support the driver till the last corner no matter the circumstances.
The fact that he was able to win in Singapore, Monza's performance... His reaction – shows – that he is totally focused on the season. He said he was going to push until the last half of the season, but you can be sure that I will push through it to the last corner too.
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc happy with Ferrari SF24
The 2024 testing session saw Carlos Sainz topping one session in the SF24 challenger and hence the team was all-praises for the challenger. Additionally, Charles Leclerc mentioned how the car didn’t produce any ‘unexpected surprises’ for the driver and produced great performance. Hence, the team principal was satisfied with the development of the chassis and its performance so far.
Vasseur highlighted that according to Leclerc and Sainz’s statements, the team was successful on the car’s front. Hence, the 2024 season would be exciting for the Tifosis. As Maranello would potentially fight with Mercedes for the second spot on the constructor’s table. Red Bull’s dominant performance in the testing sessions has more or less sealed the team’s victory this season as well.
Hence, Carlos Sainz needs to perform on his A-game down the season to ensure his possibility to stay on the grid. Sainz recently broke down the timeline for making the final call for the team that he will race for beyond 2025. Hence the 2024 season is very crucial for the driver to make his mark in the sport and ensure that he stays on the grid alongside any constructor as he would likely eye an Audi contract. However, it remains to be seen where the Spaniard is headed for next season.
