Mick Schumacher was a highly anticipated talent when he made his debut in Formula 1 in 2021. Schumacher has had a rough start to his Formula 1 career, with 2021 being a write-off year for Haas, Mick was stuck with an undrivable and underwhelming car. Mick’s career so far has been marked with mistakes and collisions, with the German failing to match his more experienced teammate Kevin Magnussen this season.
Even though Haas is still undecided over its driver lineup for next year, Mick has not failed to be a fan favorite. The former F2 champion has a massive fan following be it his driving or for his relations with his mentor Sebastian Vettel, which the fans picturing it as the friendship between Mick’s father, Michael Schumacher, and Vettel in the past. Thus it is evident that no matter where Mick’s career goes from here, he will always be supported by a dedicated fanbase and a loving mentor.
Fans hope for Mick Schumacher to get a contract extension
At the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, while Mick was in the paddock, a fan asked the German for an autograph, but when the 23-year-old looked at the person, he realized it was actually the fan’s passport! A surprised Mick declined to sign a passport and went on walking. This incident was uploaded on Twitter by Haas’s official Twitter handle and fans were amused. One fan even complimented the German for good eyesight after spotting the passport.
Many fans talked about giving Mick something else to sign, more specifically a contract extension to ensure the German stays in F1 next year. One user said, “Give him something else to sign then. Idk, maybe a contract extension” while another fan replied, “it was secretly a contract extension in disguise.” Some fans also had their own wishes, one commenting, “can he sign the marriage form?” hoping to marry the 23-year-old. While another fan eyed being adopted by the German and said, “Had the adoption papers ready.” Hopefully Mick does get to sign at least one of the above-mentioned papers.
Thus despite Mick’s current situation regarding his future in the sport, his fans still cherish the German and are waiting eagerly for Haas to renew the contract for 2023 and beyond. Till then, however, Schumacher still has two more races left in the season where he can prove his might to the American team or a rival team for a possible drive in 2024.
