While it might seem ages have passed since Daniel Ricciardo left McLaren, the truth is just last year the Australian was still racing for the papaya army. Ricciardo has shifted teams several times in his career and he landed in McLaren in 2021 after ditching Renault to join Lando Norris at the Woking outfit. Ricciardo and Norris’ team-up was a publicity dream for Zak Brown‘s squad as the two made for a hilarious pair. But Daniel’s performance was not too impressive for Brown and thus, he was dropped right before the 2023 season.
Since leaving McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo did a short stint at his former team Red Bull in the reserve role. But midway through the current season, he was promoted to a regular drive at Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri as Nyck deVries was let off due to his poor scores. The Aussie raced on two occasions before taking time off to recuperate from his wrist injury at the Dutch GP. But now, he is back in action and even put up an impressive display at the Mexican Grand Prix where he ended up in the P7 spot.
But now, an old video of the former teammates Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris has resurfaced on the internet. In the clip, Norris is spotted holding the Honey Badger’s Cyberpunk helmet from last year’s Abu Dhabi GP. The two are seen hugging each other and that is when Lando Norris’ hand slides down to Daniel Ricciardo’s bu**. This has sent the entire F1 community into a laughing spell.

Daniel Ricciardo is known to the friendliest person on the paddock with an infectious smile. When he got into McLaren with Lando Norris, the two readily formed a great rapport with each other. But as the Australian had to bid adieu to the team after only two years with them, it must have been emotional for him to say goodbye to Lando. Right before the Abu Dhabi GP, which was Daniel’s last performance with McLaren, the two hugged as teammates for one last time.
No matter how high the emotions were running at the moment, Lando tried to make light of it. He placed his hand dangerously low on Daniel’s back, earning some raised eyebrows from the fans in the comments section. Here is what they had to say about the clip:
In other news, Daniel Ricciardo is now confirmed to be driving for AlphaTauri in the upcoming F1 season beside Yuki Tsunoda. He has captured this opportunity in hopes of graduating to Red Bull to take Sergio Perez’s place in the next few years. It remains to be seen if Sergio Perez does indeed gets let off from the team once his contract expires at the end of the 2024 season and if Daniel takes his place.
