Mick Schumacher currently is a part of the Mercedes reserve squad in 2023. A year before that, the German driver had a seat in the pinnacle of motorsport. Back in 2021, Mick started his career in F1 with Haas. Currently, he is doing simulator work for the team before and during race weekends. However, he also gets to have some perks such as driving old Mercedes cars at events such as the Goodwood Festival Of Speed.

When it comes to his stint with Haas, the German driver struggled a lot with the car. It was clear that he wasn’t able to unlock his full potential. Each and every race weekend, he happened to get unsatisfactory results. Apart from that, he kept having major incidents that in turn damaged his car. The costs of repairing were in the millions at the end of each year which was more than his salary of $750,000.

During the Abu Dhabi race weekend in 2022, Mick Schumacher wasn’t the only driver leaving F1. His mentor, Sebastian Vettel was retiring from the pinnacle of motorsport. After winning the last race of the season, Max Verstappen went on to do donuts on the track. On the other side, even Mick went on to do some as it was his last race. However, Haas went on the radio and stopped him from doing them.

Mick also got to drive his dad Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes at Goodwood which seemed like a blast. While Toto Wolff has taken him under his wing, a seat in 2024 is not confirmed for the German racer. It will be interesting to see what’s in store for Mick in his journey back to F1. Many say that Mick is a driver with untapped potential. It will be interesting to see how accurate that statement is once the Mercedes reserve driver is back in the pinnacle of motorsport.
