The 2023 Miami GP was yet another race where Max Verstappen and Red Bull showed pure dominance. The two Bulls went on to gap the whole grid by more than 26 seconds. However, while there were plenty of overtakes during the race, it did not seem to cater towards the fans who claimed it to be one of the most boring races of the season.

While Sergio Perez was holding onto the lead at the start, Max Verstappen was on hards and on a charge. Having started from P9, the Dutchman went on to overtake Perez as he went to pit from mediums to hard tyres. Later on, Max pitted during the last 1/3 rd part of the race and came out behind Checo. However, he went on to pass him shortly after and build up a sizeable gap.

Even after qualifying on pole, Sergio Perez was stuck with a strategy that didn’t work and was helpless against Max Verstappen. Meanwhile Charles Leclerc was stuck behind a Haas for almost half the race which in fact was tough to watch. While Lewis and Mercedes looked promising during practice, their performance during the race was not up to the mark.

Max is the first driver since Niki Lauda in France 1984 to win a race from 9th place on the grid. Only 3 other drivers have won from P9 (Maurice Trintigant – Monaco 1955, John Surtees – Italy 1967 & Jody Scheckter – Canada 1977). Here is how the fans reacted to the race.

Max Verstappen got his 38th career victory in F1 and matched the record of Sebastian Vettel for wins with Red Bull.
Sergio Perez was runner up while Fernando Alonso completed the podium in P3. While all the glitz and glamour was present at Hard rock today, the race itself didn’t seem to keep the fans entertained. The organisers will be holding talks to see if the race can be turned into a night race for future iterations.
