“A man of many talents” – Fans react as Nico Hulkenberg shares hilarious “Hulkenback” memes after his F1 comeback announcement
Nico Hulkenberg posts a series of "Hulkenback" memes and the fans are here for it
Nico Hulkenberg is officially coming back to Formula 1 as a full-time driver with Haas in 2023. The German will be replacing the now-ousted Mick Schumacher after spending 3 seasons on the sidelines. Hulkenberg will be partnering with Kevin Magnussen in the American team which looks to focus on re-establishing itself as a consistent midfield performer with a key focus on medium to long-term development.
During his hiatus from F1, Nico built his image as the “Super Sub” of Formula 1 after the 35-year-old provided stellar drives as a replacement driver for Racing Point and Aston Martin in 2020 and 2022 respectively. Throughout F1 social media communities, the German got an image of the “Hulkenback,” the one person who can fill in any role last minute. After Hulkenberg’s announcement of joining Haas next year, the German too joined in on this joke.
On Instagram, Nico posted a series of memes about him becoming the replacement for a number of different positions, from substituting for covid-19 positive Valentino Rossi, French President Emmanuel Macron to even becoming the President of the United States.
The post had left no stone unturned, with Hulkenberg even set to replace Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The German showed the internet that he is ready for all opportunities.
Fans are eager for Nico Hulkenberg’s F1 comeback
The fans went bonkers over the Hulkenback memes, most of whom appreciated the gesture of the German to play in on the joke, giving the fans an even bigger reason to laugh. One fan said, “What a man he is for embracing the meme.” Users agreed with Nico’s ability to be a super sub, with one user replying, “Thousand problem one solution: Nico The Immortal Hulk,” while another user called the German, “a man of many talents.” One fan even asked the 35-year-old to fill in on their own shift, commenting, “are you sure you can’t cover my shift tomorrow its only 12 hours.” Another fan agreed with Hulk’s US president meme and advocated, “#Hulkenbergforpresident.”
It seems that Nico Hulkenberg is eager for his comeback to Formula 1 with Haas and so are the fans, perhaps it can be said that no driver with a record of having no podiums has ever been anticipated to be back at the pinnacle of motorsport, thus the 35-year-old will be having a significant weight on his shoulders when he tries to prove his critics that he has earned that Haas seat. Till then, however, we all can sit back and have a good laugh with the German “Hulkenback.”
