“My father has the same model” – Fans recall when Formula 1 partnered up to make special toolboxes

A Formula 1 branded toolbox

Formula 1 is a global sport with millions of fans. F1 fans are passionate about their favorite sport. Accordingly, thousands of fans travel to watch a Grand Prix from the stands. However, naturally, many want to bring the essence of the sport back to their homes. Though, some resort to carrying cardboard cutouts from the races, many do buy official merchandise. Thus, F1 itself tries to capitalize on this aspect.

Consequently, back in the 1980s, Formula 1 looked to make a set of toolboxes. F1 collaborated with Canadian manufacturer Canadian Tire’s Mastercraft brand to create Formula 1 branded toolboxes. A picture of such an item recently surfaced on Reddit. The image depicts a simple orange box with a black stripe on the top along with Formula 1 printed on the stripe itself. Certainly a classic look which looks decent even today.

A toolbox may not be the first thing when a person hears Formula 1 merch. Considering nowadays teams provide fans with expensive clothing such as Max Verstappen with Castore. Although, this toolbox fits in perfectly. After all, a fan would love to have the feeling of being a part of a team’s crew in F1 while they fix their car’s mechanics. However, this item perhaps had a limited target audience as it was discontinued later on.”

You have a cool thing.” On the other hand, one fan took a dig and its simple design and wrote, “They really knocked it out of the park with the effort on that one.”
