“Speak it into existence” – Fans slam Lewis Hamilton for false optimism as he promises Mercedes will ‘get the Championship back’
Lewis Hamilton claimed that he would get back to his winning ways soon, but fans think he is 'delusional'.
It has been over 1.5 years since seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton won an F1 race at the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP at Jeddah. Since then, the Briton has been in the lowest form in his F1 career, to the abject disappointment of his fans. Two years ago, the Mercedes racer was contesting for the topmost position with his Silver Arrow against his competitor Max Verstappen. The entire 2021 season was about the fight between Max and Lewis which went on till the final showdown in Abu Dhabi where the Dutchman came out as the winner.
But in 2022, Lewis Hamilton saw a new career low as he failed to attain a single Grand Prix win. It was an unfortunate year for his team Mercedes as well as they could only glean one race title thanks to George Russell‘s masterclass at the Sao Paulo GP in Brazil. Ever since debuting in 2007, it was the first time that Lewis Hamilton had had a winless season. Now, five races have already happened in the all-new 2023 Championship and Lewis has only managed to get one podium finish with no race wins at all.
Even amidst this career low, Lewis Hamilton continues to have his Championship-winning mindset. The 38-year-old recently appeared at a Patronas-sponsored conference at a British University to have a talk with the students. There, Lewis exuded confidence as he said, “We will get a win at some stage, we will get that championship back.” The video of Lewis’ address to the audience has gone viral on Twitter and fans have commented that he is deluded if he believes there is any chance he can win amidst his ongoing career slump.
Fans are convinced Lewis Hamilton will have to retire with 103 Grand Prix wins and urges him to accept the same
Lewis Hamilton had entered the F1 world in 2007, and he got his first Championship victory, after several controversies, in 2008, defeating Felipe Massa. Now, it has been 16 years since his debut, but Lewis is still going strong at 38 years of age. And according to his speech at his latest appearance for Patronas, a company that sponsors Mercedes for their F1 campaign, Lewis Hamilton is sure he can get back to his winning ways.
But the fans on Twitter are not sure Lewis can attain this impossible ordeal, and thus they have commented–
In other news, Lewis Hamilton’s 2021 rival Max Verstappen seems to be in a flying form at this moment. The Dutchman is on his quest for an F1 Championship hattrick and is currently leading the score table with a 14-point advantage over his closest competitor Sergio Perez. Now, it remains to be seen whether Lewis Hamilton can get up to the level of Max Verstappen in this Championship as there are 19 Grands Prix still left for the Mercedes man to seek redemption.
