Max Verstappen went on to achieve pole position at the British GP. The two-time world champion was unstoppable as he grabbed his fifth consecutive pole this season. However, Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were not happy with the Dutch driver after the session after claiming that Russell was overtaken under yellow flags

The Dutch driver drove past the Mercedes of George Russell during Qualifying despite yellow flag lights flashing at the corner entry. Hamilton and Russell were quick to point out the incident. Hamilton said, “Max just overtook on the yellow.” While George Russell stated, “Verstappen just overtook me into this yellow flag zone.”

Although, it turns out that Max Verstappen did not go past Russell under yellow flags. As the two-time world champion overtook the Mercedes driver before the sector that had been flagged yellow. However, no word on an official investigation has been heard from the FIA or if Mercedes reported this incident to the stewards.

Fans on Twitter were infuriated after seeing this incident. One user called out the sports governing body over favoritism towards Verstappen and Red Bull. The user replied, “FIAbull strike again.” Similarly, another fan wrote, “FIA won’t do anything it’s red bull.” One fan even accused the FIA of being corrupt regarding its bias towards Milton Keynes. The fan replied, “Why doesn’t he get a penalty? Is the FIA blind or paid?”

Another user urged the Mohammed Ben Sulayem-led sports governing body to start taking its job seriously. The user commented, “You clowns! Start doing your jobs right!!” One fan went as far as claiming that Verstappen and Red Bull have a free pass to do whatever they seemed fit. The fan said, “As always, RedBull cars can do whatever they want without consequences.”

Thus, fans blasted the FIA for ignoring this issue. However, there has been no official word regarding whether Max Verstappen did overtake George Russell under yellow flags. Though some have claimed that this overtake took place before the yellow-flagged sector. It remains to be seen if the Mercedes drivers speak on this incident.
