Fernando Alonso aims jibe at Lewis Hamilton’s misery in 2022: ‘Package plays a big role’

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have gone through a lot of battles in their time in Formula 1 and are now heading to the end of their respective and illustrious careers. It all started with their time at McLaren which saw Lewis Hamilton emerge as one of the powerhouses of F1 and that was the the time Fernando Alonso became aware of the prowess and immense talent of this up and coming youngster. This also started a rivalry between the two which still evidently exists.

The seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, has not been off to the best of the starts with Mercedes not able to get on top of their porpoising issues. The Briton has had only one podium in the first five races of the season, something which we are not used to seeing in the last few years. The Mercedes driver was not even able to make it out of Q1 in Saudi Arabia which shocked fans all around the world.

The more shocking thing is that he has been dominated by his team mate, George Russell, who has been able to bring the best out of the resources he has been provided with. Lewis Hamilton has never been used to being beaten by his team mate. But, despite the struggles, Fernando Alonso is confident of the fact that he will make a thumping comeback in the races to come.

Fernando Alonso believes that Mercedes will soon get on top of their issues and eventually Lewis will pick up pace. He said, “This is the nature of the sport. Sometimes you have a better car, sometimes you have not such a good car and you still need to fight and make some progress.

“But I still believe Lewis will eventually finish the championship in front. This is just a five-race championship, but eventually when things are more tricky or [there are] difficult situations, Lewis will still have more experience and maybe more talent.”

“It is not going to be a fair sport in terms of numbers. This is a team sport more than anything and we tend to forget this, especially when we have success,” as reported by bbc.

Fernando Alonso has full trust in his ex team mate from McLaren to deal with this frustrating period and come back from behind to win the championship at the end of the season.
