Aston Martin driver and two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso clarified all rumors about his retirement. The Spaniard, who joined with Lawrence Stroll to sign a multi-year contract with the team, is reportedly considering retirement from the team or the sport. This rumor might have been spread after Alonso’s disappointing past few races with the team, especially after the summer break.

Not to mention that the Spaniard had also retired from the world of Formula 1 back in 2018. But then again made a return to the grid with Alpine in 2021. But now, confidently, the double-world champion has dismissed all rumors about his retirement from the sport. He believes all these rumors don’t have any base and only he would decide his time in the sport, and he hasn’t yet

In his recent interview, as reported by LastWordOnSports, Alonso confirmed that the rumors around his retirement are false and that he has no plans to quit the sport. He says he likes being fast and still hates losing. So, for him, it’s not very hard to keep himself motivated when he hops into the car to race. Alonso also confirmed that he has no fixed plan for retiring from the sport he loves.

Not at the moment I am considering retirement. I know I’m at the last stage of my career, but I don’t see it that way at the moment...I don’t have a specific date when I want to end my career.

He would be happy to know that whenever he decides to leave the sport, he will leave good drivers behind him. Alonso praised the likes of Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Lando Norris, who will gain more status in the garage once he retires.

Is Fernando Alonso’s move to Red Bull likely?

On the other hand, of the rumors surrounding the Spaniard, there have also been suggestions that Alonso could make a shocking move to Red Bull. But once again, these rumors that surround the paddock are just plucked out of air. And now, once again, this certain rumor is without foundation – the Double World Champion is set to continue with Aston Martin as he signed a multi-year contract.

But all these rumors are openly thrown in the air because of the decline of the performance of Aston Martin’s AMR23. Alonso is not enjoying the car he was promised, which is now struggling in the midfield of the grid. The team found immense success in the opening rounds of the 2023 season but is headed in the opposite direction at the end of the 2023 season.

With just three races left this season, Alonso will try to finish with a higher head. The main focus of the team and Alonso should be to make the best out of their 2024 car and prepare to compete in the forward again. Who knows, after a better season, Alonso might extend his contract to stay in F1.
