Fernando Alonso has achieved an impressive record with Aston Martin so far, with four podium finishes in the first five races. As a two-time world champion in F1, he is now eagerly chasing his 33rd race victory to further solidify his career accomplishments.
The Spaniard believes in his ability to secure a race victory this season. He has specifically identified the Monaco Grand Prix as a potential opportunity where his skills and strategy may align favorably, increasing his chances of achieving a win. With his experience and determination, Alonso aims to capitalize on the unique characteristics of the Monaco circuit to achieve yet another significant milestone.
Speaking to Sky Sports, on the prospect of winning a race, Alonso said, “I think so, yes. We seem to have a car that is maybe not the fastest on the straights. We need to improve that, but we are very good on the corners. So I would say that the slowest speeds of the championship, let’s say Monaco, Budapest, Singapore. These kind of circuits, I think we put our main hopes at the moment.”
The veteran believes that the slow straights on the streets of Monaco will help him and his team overcome the mighty Red Bull, who are highly reliant on straight-line speed. This could provide them with a solid opportunity to fight the Bulls, given that at any other track, they are miles away from being competitors.
A race win is on the cards for Fernando Alonso with his astounding consistency
Consistency can make or break a team’s trajectory and momentum in F1. Fernando Alonso has become synonymous with the term, as he has secured 15 points at every race weekend this season while outperforming his teammate Lance Stroll, too.
His predatory nature lets him capitalize on his adversaries’ shortcomings. If there is a potential incident between the pair of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in front of the grid, Alonso will be a prime contender to win the race.
Fernando Alonso’s quest for a race victory in the 2023 season may be challenging. However, his recent record and determination have led to heightened optimism around the Aston Martin garage. The 41-year-old driver’s hunger for success is fueled by his last win in F1, which occurred a decade ago at his home race in Spain.
Considering his past accomplishments and current performance, Alonso has identified the team from Silverstone as the one that provides him with the best opportunity to return to the top step of the podium. If everything aligns well, this season may present an ideal opportunity for him to add another win to his impressive tally.
Fernando Alonso now possesses 75 points, placing him third in the drivers’ standings. He is 30 points behind the second place, and 19 points clear of the fourth. lt leaves him isolated, representing his season so far; better than the rest, but far away from the Bulls. With this level of prowess and consistency, Alonso will surely find himself an opportunity to take a race win, once again.
