Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton had a brilliant start to the race in Montreal. He overtook his former teammate and rival Fernando Alonso into turn one. The seven-time world champion held his position though the Aston Martin star was within the DRS range. However, this was before the safety car was deployed due to George Russell’s crash. Alonso and Hamilton took the opportunity to pit for new tires.
Aston Martin had a quicker pitstop than Mercedes. Due to this, Lewis Hamilton and the Spaniard almost collided in the pitlane. Thankfully, it was a near-miss. Meanwhile, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff mimicked Alonso for the pitlane incident. The Formula 1 official page shared a video of Wolff imitating the double-world champion for shaking his steering wheels to prevent a collision with Hamilton’s Mercedes. While fans found it hilarious, they were more surprised when Fernando Alonso replied to the post.
