While the F1 world was now settling down after the insane silly season madness that was going around in the driver market. Aston Martin revealed the AMR24, their 2024 challenger in Silverstone, on the 12th of February this Monday. Their new technical director, Dan Fallows is full of confidence and has claimed that Red Bull is a beatable target.
Aston Martin had poached their new technical director Fallows from Red Bull back in 2022 and has brought in crucial changes in the aerodynamics department since then. The Briton believes that there is still enough developmental potential in the regulations so anybody could get ahead of the dominant Red Bulls.
The thing is we're really into finding lap times now from things that are really smaller details. They're kind of more detailed elements of the floor and other parts of the car. But there's still a lot of lap time to come and we take the approach that Red Bull are absolutely beatable. That's what we're chasing after – we're focusing on them. And that's what we're aiming for.Dan Fallows said as reported by motorsport.com
Red Bull has been the benchmark in F1 since the introduction of the ground-effect rules. Many teams have been in pursuit of the takedown of the Austrian manufacturer, but have been unsuccessful. Fallows believes that this can change soon and the dominance of Red Bull could be toppled by them. With the experienced hands of Fernando Alonso and the young gun of Lance Stroll, the team could achieve this seemingly impossible task in 2024.
What are Fernando Alonso’s views on the 2024 season?
The 42-year-old two-time champion has been in his prime for decades. He joined Aston Martin back in 2023 and finished an astonishing 4th in the drivers standings. He expressed faith in the team’s direction of progress and after the launch of the AMR24, he is seen filled with optimism about the 2024 season.
I think we have to be regularly in the points first, fighting for podiums, or be a contender for podiums, as we did last year. And then if we are in that position, it will be lovely to achieve the first victory in green, for Aston Martin. Hopefully, I can be behind the wheel at that moment.
Fernando Alonso said as reported by motorsport.com
Alonso had dragged last year’s AMR23 to multiple podiums and wants to do the same this year and even one better by at least winning a single race and achieving his 33rd win in F1. However, towards the end of the year, the car had slowed down in comparison to its rivals and finished 5th overall after staying second or third the whole season.
The whole team is filled with excitement ahead of the pre-season testing in Bahrain just a few weeks later and anticipates improvement in their car. The F1 world keenly waits on how the team will push from their slow progress last season and how Alonso and Stroll dance the car around the various tracks.
