Scuderia Ferrari has failed to win an F1 world championship for over a decade. The Italian team had the opportunity to clinch the title with the new 2022 regulations. However, due to a variety of problems, from strategic errors to driver mistakes, Charles Leclerc fell way behind Max Verstappen. Subsequently, Ferrari has undergone major changes in recent months and has now attracted 2 talents from arch-rivals Red Bull.

According to reports, Maranello has bagged two engineers from Milton Keynes who are now under gardening leave. It is believed that these personnel will start their work at the Scuderia in 2024. Unfortunately, no information is available regarding the names of the individuals or even their areas of expertise. This comes as part of the recent restructuring at Ferrari, with the team hiring over 30 engineers from rivals in the past three seasons.

The report stated, “Two engineers have just been hired and have ceased their activity in Red Bull, are in full gardening period and will be in force in Maranello in 2024. But the names are not known yet, nor are we known how much the difference can make: after all, Cavallino has hired thirty technicians in the last three years – also from top teams such as Red Bull and Mercedes .”

Vasseur has made changes since joining the Scuderia

The Scuderia started 2023 with a new Team Principal in the form of Fred Vassuer after Mattia Binotto’s resignation. The team went through other shake-ups, such as Ravin Jain becoming the new chief strategist. Yet, the Prancing Horse got off to a dismal start in the 2023 F1 season. Maranello has even failed to match the pace of the likes of Aston Martin and Mercedes so far. The higher-ups at Ferrari have indicated that more changes will take place.

Ferrari is doing rapid development of the SF23. Team boss Vasseur was happy with the progress made at the Australian GP. Carlos Sainz missed out on a potential podium at the race due to a late-time penalty. Although the Italian giant is confident of making progress over the course of the season as it aims to be back to fighting for the championship in the near future.

Thus, the recent hires at Ferrari are an indication of the seriousness of the team being back at the front. Maranello is struggling to challenge the top teams, with Charles Leclerc scoring only 6 points. Though the influence of the two new engineers will only be seen during the 2024 F1 season, it signals the start of a new plan for Ferrari to increase its development strength.
