The pinnacle of motor racing has been dominated by the reigning F1 world champion, Max Verstappen for the last few years. Verstappen has been performing in a league of his own but despite this, former AlphaTauri team principal, Franz Tost feels that Sebastian Vettel would still defeat the Dutchman in equal machinery.
While Sebastian Vettel called it quits at the end of the 2022 F1 season, he is a former 4-time world champion. Vettel amassed all his titles with Red Bull and is seen as one of the greatest the sport has ever seen. Franz Tost has tremendous respect for everything that the German has so far brought to the world of F1. During a recent interview with FormulaPassion, Tost was asked to talk about his dream F1 duo and while praising Vettel, he specifically said;
I would choose Vettel and Max for their dedication to the sport and their speed. they know how to win races and bring with them all the factors needed to win them. First of all, they have talent, and to drive a car of this type you need to be very skilled. Secondly, they have passion.
Moreover, he further indicated that Sebastian Vettel could most probably get the better of Max Verstappen in race trim. “It could be Sebastian.” Looking at the reaction of Tost, it is quite clear that he would give Vettel the edge over Verstappen especially when it comes to race-trim.
Sebastian Vettel has kept the door open on a potential F1 return
While Sebastian Vettel is no longer seen sparkling his magic on track during F1 Grand Prix events, he has on several occasions, made it known that he could return to the pinnacle of motor racing in a driving capacity. Vettel is 36 years old and could come in for a stint of 1-3 years.
The 42-year-old, Fernando Alonso is still going strong, and thus, Vettel could also do the same if he feels like getting back to the grind somewhere down the line. Moreover, if it happens, it would be a great day for his die-hard fans all over the world.
Sebastian Vettel’s fans would do just about anything to see their hero once again get back behind the wheel of an F1 car and show everyone why he is one of the best to ever do it. Vettel has made a few appearances in 2023 trying his hands at older race cars at some specific events.
