All through this year, Mercedes debutant George Russell has truly shown his mettle behind the wheels, thanks to his brilliant racing skills. The Briton even left his seven-time World Champion teammate far behind, as he clinched the first pole position of his career at the Hungary GP earlier this season. And he managed to recapitulate the same feat of ensuring front-row start at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix for himself, by attaining his maiden Sprint Race win.

While all the F1 pundits have already given their opinion that George Russell is just a Formula 1 Champion in waiting, he further proved that prediction by giving a great fight to this year’s title-winner Max Verstappen during the Sprint Race in Brazil. As the lights went off at the very beginning of the race, Magnussen managed to hold on to his leading position for one lap, after which Verstappen overtook him.

George Russell did not take long to go past Kevin Magnussen. And then, he preyed upon Max Verstappen, who was having some problems with his car as there was a suspected damage. During lap 11 and 12, George increased the frequency of his attacks on the reigning World Champion and fans rejoiced at the spectacle of Max skillfully warding off Russell’s attacks. And finally, in lap 13, the Silver Arrow cross the Red Bull to take the lead.

Ever since the initial races of this current 2022 season, Mercedes have surprisingly failed to score a single Grand Prix win, even though Russell did get a pole position at Hungaroring. But the fans of the Stuttgart outfit are now relieved to see George Russell having attained victory at the Sprint Race, because they believe, this means Mercedes is coming back.

Here is what the fans said as George Russell received his first-ever Sprint Race win–

While George Russell got the first place, Lewis Hamilton did stay far behind as he overtook a few racers on the way to the third spot on the grid. Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari separated the two Silver Arrows as he came second, but due to a grid penalty, he will be starting his race tomorrow from the fifth position. This means, it is Mercedes’ first front row lock-out for tomorrow, and the fans are hoping to see some glimpses of the team’s performance from the old days when they were the undisputed Champions on the track.
