The French driver competed in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix despite being penalised for a collision with Mick Schumacher, finishing seventh. At the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, when he finished sixth after starting fifth, Ocon’s team told him to maintain his place after a close race with Alonso. He qualified for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in position nineteenth due to gearbox troubles during qualifying. He was penalised for an illegal move in the pit lane after placing twelfth in the race. Ocon has had better luck with Alpine this season as of now as compared to last season. Ocon is currently placed eighth in the drivers’ standings with a total of 52 points.

9. Lewis Hamilton

The 7-time Formula One World Champion undoubtedly had one of the worst starts to a season in 2022. The Mercedes driver has failed to win a single race this season as of yet. This is quite surprising given the fact that he has 103 victories to his name. He’s had a tough time in outscoring his new teammate George Russell at times. His worst finish this season was in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix where he finished at P13. The main root behind all of his troubles has been the tricky W13 which has been plagued with severe porpoising issues this season. Hamilton has addressed how this has proved to be extremely detrimental for his back. The Briton is currently placed sixth in the drivers’ standings with a total of 109 points.

8. Valtteri Bottas

The Finn had to make a move to Alfa Romeo this season when Mercedes decided to bring in George Russell in his place. However, Bottas has performed better in the Alfa Romeo C42 than former teammate Lewis Hamilton in his W13. He has had two DNFs this season in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix. The one thing that has proved to be a hindrance for him is the C42’s reliability issues. His best finish this season has been in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix where he finished at P5. He has managed to accumulate 46 points this season while being placed at ninth in the drivers’ standings.

7. Lando Norris

The season started out with the good news of McLaren extending the British driver’s contract till 2025. However, his health problems have caused a lot of problems this season. Norris had a terrible time in dealing with his tonsillitis issues. What is noteworthy is that he has still managed to be consistent with his results and climbing up the leaderboard while dealing witch such adversities. His best finish this season was at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix where he finished on the podium at P3. He has collected a total of 64 points in these 11 races.

6. Fernando Alonso

The Spaniard has had a fantastic first-half of the season and hasn’t shown any signs that he’s going to stop anytime soon. He’s had two DNFs this season-one at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and another at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It was a phenomenal sight to see him start from the back of the grid at P20 and then end up at P9 in the Spanish Grand Prix. His best result this season was at the British Grand Prix where he finished at P5. The Alpine driver has accumulated a total of 29 points and is currently placed tenth on the drivers’ standings.
