Shortly after McLaren’s great qualifying performance at Silverstone, in which Max Verstappen contested the pole position, Christian Horner hosted a BBQ at his house in Oxfordshire. It is less than an hour’s drive from the Silverstone track. Drivers such as Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris accepted the Red Bull team boss’ invitation; several other drivers did not.

Christian Horner spoke to the media after the Grand Prix on Sunday and disclosed that he had invited the drivers to his house for a good steak or fish. He revealed that once all the drivers got together in his place, they started talking about all the incidents they had had on the track. The drivers even spoke about the incidents they were part of in the past in F3 and karting.

He told the media,“I had all the drivers at my house for a barbecue last night, and then you immediately see that they immediately talk about the moments on the track, what happened here and there, even about what happened in Formula 3 or in karting.”

When asked if all twenty drivers had accepted his offer to a cookout, Horner curtly replied no. He said, “No, no, about half of the grid.” It is unknown who was not present at Christian Horner’s smoking grill. Verstappen and Lando Norris drew a fork, and it is clear that at least the Red Bull drivers have been current. It’s nothing unexpected, given that Horner is a rival team boss for many.

After last year’s reveal of Redbull’s Cost cap breach of 2021, Horner has been seen as the most villainous character in The Paddock. No team in the paddock left any chance to criticize the Red Bull team boss, and the criticism intensified once the team started dominating the rest of the grid.

But it wasn’t even the Villainn arc of the six times F1 drivers championship-winning team boss. He is known for his no-nonsense approach and has never shied away from picking a fight with opponents when needed. He had also never held back when it came to criticizing rivals. But it’s what is demanded from a team principal, as politics is a huge part of F1.

Red Bull has been unrivaled in 2023 so far. Max Verstappen has widened his gap to 99 points from 2nd placed Sergio Perez and is looking to grab his 3rd title in a row. It’s nothing new for the team bosses of the dominant teams to make enemies and lose their friends over the years as Formula One.
