“He will be in an F1 car”: Williams CEO Jost Capito drops hint on Logan Sargeant’s future

Williams CEO and team principal Jost Capito took a guess as to where Logan Sargeant is headed after the American racer made his debut in Formula 2 this year with Carlin. 21-year-old Sargeant is a recruit of the Williams Driver Academy, and he has shown excellent performance behind the wheels of his racecar in his first F2 season itself. According to the Williams executive, the young racer is destined for great things as he is quite pleased with Sargeant’s racing records till now.

Although Capito said that he still thinks it is too early to invite Sargeant into Formula 1 as the racer has a lot to achieve in F2 right now, the Williams CEO heaped loads of praises on the Carlin racer. As of now, Logan Sargeant is third in the World Championship table with 113 points in just his first year as an F2 racer, behind Felipe Drugovich and Theo Pourchaire. If he continues to perform in similar manner, he will be in contention for the F2 World Championship title as well since he has a gap of only 57 points with the leader Drugovich.

With the impending termination of Nicholas Latifi’s Williams contract, the second seat at the British team might go to Oscar Piastri. Hence, the possibility of Logan Sargeant’s entry into Wantage-based seems to be a far cry as of now. But even then, Jost Capito has showered praise over the young racer, saying that he will get his hands on an F1 seat in the near future, for sure.

While speaking of Sargeant’s prowess behind the wheels, Jost Capito said, “Of course, we are impressed. It’s his first season in F2. We didn’t put any pressure on him, so he has time to develop, and he’s really impressed us. He will be in an F1 car in the future. I’m absolutely convinced.”
