Helmut Marko took a direct jibe at Ferrari Team Principal Frederic Vasseur for not showing more concern over the team's upsetting results.

Helmut Marko slams Fred Vasseur’s ‘excessively optimistic’ attitude amid the chaos at Ferrari

Things at the Ferrari factory at Maranello have not been going well for a long time, but for some reason, their new Team Principal Frederic Vasseur has not made too many remarks about the failing situation. Seemingly at ease, the Frenchman has not done enough to ensure that the once-great Italian manufacturers get back to their winning ways–and this has irked none other than the Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko. Thus, the Austrian aimed his disdain at Frederic Vasseur, claiming that he cannot fathom how the latter is okay with how Ferrari is performing this year.

At the end of the 2022 season, a surprise announcement arrived just a few days after Charles Leclerc failed to secure a World Championship and Ferrari had to settle for second place in the Constructors’ Standings. And it was the resignation of Ferrari’s Team Principal Mattia Binotto, who had served as the Head of the Italian team for three long years. Looking for the proper replacement for Binotto, the Ferrari executives decided Mattia should pass the baton to Alfa Romeo Chief Frederic Vasseur, so that he could bring the team back to the top.

Unfortunately, the prancing horse has had no such luck in the new season despite a change in the leadership. In fact, Aston Martin have surpassed Ferrari in the standings, and McLaren is not far behind. Thus, if the string of poor performances continue, Fred Vasseur’s team might be down to the fifth spot in the Championship table, and Helmut Marko is amazed that the Frenchman is not taking enough initiative to correct the situation as he said, “What I just don’t understand is that team boss [Frederic] Vasseur can see everything so positively.”

With his giant expertise in Formula 1, soon-to-be-eighty Dr. Helmut Marko is a true asset for Red Bull. He is the mastermind behind several of the steps that the team takes, and he is always busy finding ways to further improve their chances of winning the golden trophy at the end of the season. Thus, it goes without saying that Marko closely studies what the opponent teams are doing with their cars. Sharing some of his comments, Helmut Marko revealed, “Mercedes obviously wants to know and find out what is going on and will come with updates in Baku. And from Ferrari, so far we have not been able to get the right assessment.”

As Helmut Marko was quick to chime in about Mercedes and Ferrari when he was asked about his views on the rival teams, it is clear that he has those two in mind as Red Bull’s clear opponents. But, on the other hand, Aston Martin have showed a steady rise in their results, and they have quickly climbed into the top 3 spots surpassing Ferrari already. Thus, it remains to be seen which team gets to have the last laugh by the end of 2023 among the four that seem to be close to the top now.
