Hollywood strikes ‘hurting’ F1 film production as Brad Pitt and Co-star are a no show at the 2023 Hungarian GP
Brad Pitt and Damson Idris were absent from the Hungarian GP filming due to recent chain of events at Hollywood.

Apple’s new F1 movie is in the making with Brad Pitt starring in it and Damson Idris being the Co-star. In recent times, the situation at Hollywood has caused a chain reaction leading all the way up to the F1 paddock. A strike that has been led by the Screen Actors Guild over pay and residuals has affected the filming of a lot of movies with some starring major celebrities.
Same is the case with F1’s newest movie. As a result of the protests, the two actors were not present at the 2023 Hungarian GP. The shooting of the movie originally started from the British GP where there were garages and cars ready for the actors to use for filming. The team is going to be called Apex GP where Brad Pitt will star as an old veteran F1 driver called Sonny Hayes. With the strikes taking place, there was limited filming taking place during the weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Jerry Bruckheimer conceded: “It certainly hurt. We are working without our SAG actors right now, we are getting this race which is exciting,” he said. “We wish they all get back and negotiate – we want them back, love them, but we understand that they have issues and we support them,” Jerry continued. The longer the strikes last, the harder it will be for the production team to finish filming on time.
A botched pitstop and a race victory was recorded at the 2023 Hungarian GP by the movie crew
In the 2023 Hungarian GP race weekend, the fictional Apex GP team went on to make a botched pitstop due to the strategists apparently not being able to decide on a particular tyre. Such a situation seems highly unlikely to happen in the sport but has technically happened in the past. After that, there was another scene shot where an Apex GP driver is being congratulated by Lewis Hamilton for winning the race.
On the other hand, Max Verstappen and Red Bull made history yet again as they broke McLaren’s record and collected their 12th consecutive victory this season. Apart from this, Max also picked up his 7th consecutive win of the season. During the podium celebrations, Lando Norris accidentally knocked the $60,000 first place trophy which broke into pieces. With the Belgian GP happening this week, it will be a month before the production crew is able to film a live paddock again.
