Formula 1 has always been a sport where the racers simply have a lot of fun on the track and off of it as well. There is always so much happening in the F1 paddocks, and outside them as well, that there is always some news about the drivers taking part in a new venture every other week. And now, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, alongwith the racers from some of the teams, took part in a charity football game in Monaco.
In the F1 Press Conference leading up to the Monaco Grand Prix, Ferrari racer Carlos Sainz delved into talks about their fundraiser football match, and the Spaniard also mentioned the tremendous thrill and fun they had while taking part in it.
The match was held a few days before the start to the much-anticipated Monaco Grand Prix weekend, and it saw Domenicali act as the goalkeeper for the drivers’ team. But then, the F1 CEO had to be replaced as he had an incident with former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat, who was playing for the opposition.

Spain is one of the most successful teams in the Football World Cup, and this sport makes up a huge chunk of the Spanish culture. Being a Spaniard, Carlos has always taken interest in football, and he was quite happy he could take part in the fundraising event.
In Carlos Sainz’s words, the football match made him feel like Real Madrid as his team made a comeback towards the end of the game. He said, “By minute 60, I was so tired. I asked Pierre ‘should we stop, save our legs?’. We were losing 3-1. He said ‘no, let’s keep going’. We switched positions, I started scoring and I felt like Real Madrid, coming back!”
