Max Verstappen may have cruised to his sixth victory this season, but all eyes are on his former teammate Alexander Albon, who brought home points for Williams for the second time this year at the Canadian Grand Prix. The British-Thai driver was resilient and persevered to being home P7 for Williams, earning their best season finish so far and in recent times.
Alex Albon started P9 and initially dropped down to P12. Still, after the event of the Safety Car, allowing him to steady himself and catch up, the 27-year-old went on to complete an astounding 57-lap stint on hard tires, which earned him a well-deserved 6 points, which will be golden for himself and Williams.
Albon also earned himself the fan-voted title of Driver of the Day, apt for his performance, perseverance, and determination. This result is an immensely positive sign for Williams and Albon, who will use this race as a foundation to build upon for future races.

Here is how fans reacted to Alex Albon’s impressive P7 finish
Despite being a regular backmarker, as they have been for years, Alex Albon dragged his Williams into P7, which is remarkable considering he out-paced the likes of Alpine, Aston Martin, and McLaren. It is even more impressive when you consider that his teammate Logan Sargeant hasn’t yet achieved points finish or anything near the sort despite being in identical machinery.
Finishing in the points for him was unexpected, given that despite driving well all year round, his car doesn’t match up to his competitors’. After his stellar result, fans took to Twitter to recognize and praise Albon’s inspiring drive. Here is how fans reacted after the race had concluded:
This singular result has shot Albon up the drivers’ standings to twelfth, just behind the likes of Lando Norris. Williams have also now moved ahead of AlphaTauri in the constructors’ standings, and sit in P9, a single point behind Haas. This result is a strong indicator of what the car can achieve if the driver puts in an effort like Albon did today.
