Fernando Alonso, the Spanish racing driver will start his 2023 season with a new team. He moved from Alpine to Aston Martin and caused quite a stir in the paddock. Alonso has a multi-year deal with Aston Martin which Alpine refused to give. He will be racing alongside Lance Stroll, the son of Lawrence Stroll who owns the team.
The two-time world champion had a strained relationship with his former teammate, Esteban Ocon, in Alpine. Things have changed now as the Spaniard is fond of his new teammate. Alonso had nothing but praises for Lance Stroll. His main goal for the season is to make progress with the team and aim for wins.
In an interview with Aston Martin, Alonso stated that “Stroll is super young, super talented, and has the possibility to be World Champion. To see him achieve that and have played a part in that, whether that’s behind the wheel or not, will be special for me.” It didn’t take long for the fans to react to his statement. “Is it April 1st already” The fans were in disbelief.

The internet had the best reaction saying Lawerence Stroll bribed him to say that. While some fans called Alonso funny, others requested him to blink if he needed help. “Nando, blink twice if you need help” “Alonso got a great sense of humour too” “Talk about how great your teammate is then utterly destroy him to look even better.” “I too think my bosses son has a lot of potential” were some of the wild comments.
Alonso stressed that it is important for them to make progress. The Spaniard doesn’t know whether he will be behind the wheel when the team is finally capable of fighting for a championship. However, he vowed to use all his experience and knowledge to help the team. Alonso’s praises for the team this early feel quite exaggerated according to the fans.
The driver is well known to have feuds with his teammates. It can be dated back to the time he was in McLaren with Lewis Hamilton. However Alonso has known Stroll for almost 11 years since his time in Ferrari, Lance was an academy driver for the team back then. He is also friends with Lawerence Stroll, these connections may help him maintain a positive relationship with the team. Aston Martin, the first team to reveal their dates for the car launch will unveil the AMR23 on 13th February at the Silverstone base.
