‘It would be hard to adapt to IndyCar’: Christian Lundgaard believes Sebastian Vettel’s possible switch to a different series would be a ‘tough transition’

Only a few weeks ago, the Formula 1 world was shaken to its core by the sudden news of Sebastian Vettel announcing his retirement at the end of the current F1 2022 season. The German, who is an Aston Martin driver as of now, will be leaving behind a career with four World Championship victories and a brilliant legacy. Vettel’s team swiftly confirmed Fernando Alonso as his replacement for next year, even though the 35-year-old did not shed light on his future endeavours that he has planned after he retires from F1.
Even though Sebastian Vettel’s career plans are not confirmed yet, there have come up reports about the racer’s potential entry into IndyCar, Formula E or DTM. Bobby Rahal, the co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan, has expressed his wishes to welcome Sebastian Vettel for an IndyCar test after the driver said that he finds Road American to be a “proper” circuit.
In a recent interview with Motorsports, former IndyCar racer Christian Lundgaard gave his take on whether he believes switching to IndyCar racing would be a good career move for Sebastian Vettel or not.
Christian Lundgaard feels Sebastian Vettel’s transition to the American circuits would be difficult

Since Sebastian Vettel is a big name in the world of Formula 1, it goes without saying that the uncertainty regarding the German’s future career moves have intrigued many of his fans. While the debate of how Sebastian Vettel would fare in IndyCar has been doing the rounds in the F1 communities for quite some time, Danish motorsports racer Christian Lundgaard weighed in on this topic with his opinion of how the former Red Bull and Ferrari driver might find some tough luck while driving in the IndyCar Championship.
21-year-old Christian Lundgaard, who swapped to IndyCar racing after spending two seasons in F2, said, “I think it would be cool for Sebastian to drive an IndyCar, honestly.” But then Lundgaard channeled his experience from driving F1 cars for Renault and said IndyCar racing is a lot more difficult than racing in Formula 1.
Christian Lundgaard further said, “So I think for Sebastian to come over here and try a car you need to hustle, you need to work the car and…the car isn’t driving you, you are driving the car, I think that would be a tough transition.” Christian Lundgaard also predicted that current F2 leader Felipe Drugovich might turn to IndyCar racing if he does not find a seat in F1 next year.
