Andreas Seidl says McLaren coming to Spain with planned upgrades

Andreas Siedl, team principal of the McLaren F1 team, talks about the upcoming upgrades all the teams are going to bring for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.

McLaren has started the season in a way they didn’t expect to do, they only managed to score 6 points in the first two races. But the tables turned for them as they brought substituent upgrades and managed to get 18 points in Australia. In the next race, they also managed to get Lando Norris on the podium, in Imola.

As the next race is in Spain, teams including McLaren are coming up with new upgrades which would also help them track the data of what they had before and after the upgrades as they already have data of the run they had in the pre-season testing in Barcelona.

“We are bringing some upgrades to the car for the weekend,” mentioned Seidl on the official Mclaren site.

McLaren managed to score 12 points in the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix, with both the drivers on points. Ricciardo outscored Lando and finished P6 and P8 respectively. 

They would hope to score points again this season. Hoping for the same result as last year Mclaren are planning to bring upgrades for the weekend.

With Miami Grand Prix not going as per the performance the orange team had shown recently there is pretty good room for improvement. Miami Grand had Daniel out of points and Lando Norris DNF caused by a crash with Pierre Gasly. 

“We are bringing some upgrades to the car for the weekend. I know it’s been an extremely busy week or so for many of the teams making changes ahead of Barcelona so it’s going to continue to be a tight fight for points,” the team boss said.

Upcoming Spain Grand Prix would bring a lot of changes for the teams even at the top. With Ferrari coming yup will upgrades Red Bull has shifted their upgrades plans to Silverstone.
