Max Verstappen has been in sensational form during the 2023 F1 season, and former Williams and McLaren driver Juan Pablo Montoya has admitted that there are 7-8 drivers who could beat him in the RB19. This statement from Montoya has come in light of how dominant Verstappen has been this year.

Max Verstappen and his teammate, Sergio Perez, are the only two drivers with a Championship-worthy car this year. Still, despite this fact, the former is way ahead of Perez in the Drivers Championship. Montoya believes had some of the other F1 drivers had the opportunity of driving the RB19; they would have probably beaten the Dutchman.

While talking about the same, he recently added, “In place of Max, there are about seven or eight riders who could be world champions with Red Bull. For example Hamilton, Sainz, Leclerc, Norris would be world champions.” Looking at the comment of the Colombian motor racing driver, it is clear he sees quite a few World Championship-caliber drivers on the current F1 grid.

Moreover, he has specifically mentioned drivers like the former 7-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, and has even thrown in the name of Formula 1 prodigy, Lando Norris in the mix, who is yet to register his first Grand Prix win in the sport.

While Max Verstappen has been dominating the F1 world quite easily since the 2022 season of the sport, he could face some tough competition in the coming years if rival teams step up their game. The Milton Keynes-based team nailed the new regulations from the very start and is, thus, reaping the rewards for it.

However, considering how unpredictable the world of F1 is, there could arise a situation from next year onwards where the lights of Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and even McLaren can come up with potent machinery. If this somehow comes to fruition, the World Championship battle would become highly interesting.

It has been over two years seeing Red Bull dominated Formula 1, and just like the ardent fans of the sport, the other F1 outfits are also desperate to see multiple teams fighting for race wins regularly. The 2024 F1 campaign could have several surprises for Max Verstappen and Co.
