There was a lot of drama surrounding Aston Martin F1 driver Lance Stroll as he was ruled out of pre-season testing. The reason being that the Canadian driver met with a cycling accident that injured his wrists. This meant that Lance wouldn’t be able to drive the new car and get to grips with it as the season opener was just a week away. However, with his recovery seemingly over, the real challenge starts.
When news broke that Lance Stroll wouldn’t be taking part in pre-season testing, everyone was wondering who would take his place. The team later confirmed reserve driver Felipe Drugovich as his replacement for pre-season testing. Even after testing got over, there were doubts about the Canadian racing driver being able to compete in the season opening 2023 Bahrain GP.
Those doubts have finally been cleared as it is finally official that Lance Stroll will be competing this weekend. The Aston Martin driver will have an enormous challenge ahead of him with little to zero on track practice with Aston Martin’s newest challenger. The team confirmed his participation after he was declared fit for the Bahrain GP. The driver showed his frustration through his words.

In an interview, here is what the Canadian driver had to say about his accident. “It was an unfortunate accident – I fell from my bike when my tyre caught a hole in the ground – but thankfully the damage was not significant and a successful minor surgery on my right wrist fixed the problem very quickly,” he said.
“Since then, I’ve been working hard with my team to ensure that I am fully fit to compete this weekend.” He added: “I would like to thank the F1 community for their support and privacy, as well as the team who have helped my recovery. Now I’m ready to get my head down and concentrate on racing this weekend – something I’m really looking forward to,” he concluded.
Lance Stroll will have a new teammate this season as Sebastian Vettel retires from the sport and his greatest rival replaces him. Being new to the team, Fernando Alonso will bring in that motivation to push the team forward. From the testing standpoint alone, it seems like the Aston Martin will be very competitive. Fans and critics will get to know how true that is when all the cars go racing on Sunday for the season opening Bahrain GP.
