Ferrari and Carlos Sainz have ended Red Bull’s winning spree at the Singapore GP. The Milton Keynes outfit faced unexpected challenges at Marina Bay. Qualifying quandaries and race-day lamentations crumbled Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s chances of continuing their winning streak. McLaren’s Lando Norris believes that Max had the worst car ever.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit, known for its tight corners and unforgiving nature, promised a thrilling showdown. During the qualifying session, both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez struggled to secure top-ten positions on the starting grid. The RB19, which had an amazing pace on every track until now, was a tricky beast.

As the race unfolded, the anticipated Red Bull resurgence failed to materialize. Verstappen, who had ten consecutive wins in his pocket, could only manage a modest fifth-place finish, while Perez crossed the line in eighth. These results were a far cry from the dominant performances that Red Bull fans had grown accustomed to throughout the season.

Norris on the other hand, had a spectacular weekend and capped it off with a podium. Speaking to Racefans.net about Red Bull’s struggles, he stated, “I don’t know what they struggled with this weekend. When I watched [Verstappen’s] onboard yesterday, I kind of laughed because I’ve never seen a car that bad before.” He added, “Max also laughed about it, so we’ll see next weekend. I think they’ll probably be back at the top.”

Lewis Hamilton suggests Red Bull’s focus on next season hampered their performance

Norris claimed, “If Red Bull weren’t here, I would have had two race wins already. I think there’s always been great battles.” These words highlight his previous P2 finishes behind Red Bull and emphasize the impact Red Bull’s presence has had on the championship race this season.

One theory put forth by Lewis Hamilton, who secured third place for Mercedes, suggests that Red Bull might have shifted their focus toward developing next season’s car. He believes that the team has diverted their attention away from refining their current machine during the season, as teams like McLaren and Ferrari had diligently done. This strategic decision, if true, could have contributed to their struggles in Singapore.

However, it’s essential to keep these reactions in perspective. While Norris’s comments provide insight into the astonishment shared by many in the F1 community over Red Bull’s struggles in Singapore, they don’t necessarily paint a complete picture of the team’s capabilities. There are high chances that this could be a one-off disastrous weekend for the Milton Keynes outfit, and the team will bounce back at Suzuka.
