Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton recently signed a long-overdue contract extension with Mercedes, which probably ensures he is going to stay with the team for the rest of his remaining years in F1. Reacting to this, McLaren’s Lando Norris revealed his happiness with the move as he stated it was a ‘pleasure’ to race Hamilton.
McLaren’s sudden improvements had seen them competing with big teams like Mercedes and Ferrari, bumping them up to the top order of the grid in a very short time. Lando Norris claimed that this finally gave him the opportunity to go wheel to wheel against Hamilton this year, and said that it is ‘cool’ to go up against one of F1’s all-time greats. Norris revealed that Hamilton was one of his role models growing up, so getting the opportunity to race him for two more years makes him very jovial.
“This year, we’ve had a few more battles and it is a cool thing to race against someone who is one of the best drivers in Formula One… It is a pleasure for all of us, including myself,” said Norris, as per Racing News 365.

Max Verstappen approves Lewis Hamilton’s renewal with Mercedes

After a months-long saga, the renewal of Lewis Hamilton finally came through on 31st August 2023 which would see him stay at Mercedes up until the end of 2025. As the good news for Mercedes fans comes through, Hamilton’s 2021 arch-rival Max Verstappen also showed his contentment with the deal which keeps him on the track for at least two more years.
Verstappen and Hamilton were engaged in one of the most cut-throat championship battles of F1 history in 2021. Even though the iconic rivalry had a controversial ending in Abu Dhabi, both the drivers have nothing but respect for each other as Verstappen claims Hamilton’s renewal is good for the sport.
“For sure, the news is good for the sport…it’s good for himself and Mercedes because they’ve been already teamed up for a long time and for them to continue that partnership is great,” said Verstappen.
