At the Hungarian GP, Hamilton managed to secure pole position by a mere 3 milliseconds but soon found himself slipping down to fourth place, unable to match the sheer speed of his rivals.
In the aftermath of the race, Lando Norris addressed Hamilton’s complaints in the post-race interviews. He emphasized that despite Hamilton’s grievances, the Mercedes car is far from being a poor performer. Norris remarked, “I know Lewis complains a lot of how amazing our car is and how bad theirs is, but they don’t have a bad car. And they haven’t all season.”
The McLaren driver didn’t mince his words when he reminded everyone that Hamilton’s struggles, while frustrating for the seven-time champion, are still far better than those experienced by drivers in the lower end of the grid. “Yesterday, Lewis complained of how tough it was finishing outside first position,” Norris pointed out. “Try racing in 19th and 20th. He’s never done that in his life. So that’s the only thing that Lewis hasn’t done that in Formula 1.”
