Lando Norris and McLaren have witnessed a resurgence in form over the past two rounds of the season. The British driver qualified on the front row at the British GP and brought home a P2 finish at the team’s home race. Unfortunately, Norris could only secure a Top 3 grid start for the Hungarian GP after Lewis Hamilton‘s surprise pole position. Now, the McLaren driver has expressed his disappointment for the same.
Norris admitted that he was disappointed with his result in Qualifying. The British driver was frustrated after losing to pole position by only a tenth of a second to Hamilton and second-placed Max Verstappen. Though, the 25-year-old acknowledged that he made some mistakes in the session. He told Sky Sports, “I am disappointed I guess. If you are within a tenth of the pole then you are disappointed. As a driver I feel disappointed. I made too many mistakes today.”
However, Lando Norris mentioned that a P3 start is a good position for the McLaren driver as he hopes for a good result in the race. The British driver even opened up about the team expecting a good pace in the Grand Prix. He continued, “P3 is still a good position for tomorrow, so still a good day. The race pace yesterday was just as strong as Silverstone.”

Lando Norris frustrated after P3 finish in Qualifying
The McLaren driver revealed that the challenging nature of the Hungaroring makes it a difficult track to overtake. This, in turn, would make it a tough race for Norris. Although, the 25-year-old hoped to utilize Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to gain an advantage in the race. He explained, “It’s a difficult track to overtake, so that is why I am frustrated, but we are up with the good guys so hopefully we can use them.”
Certainly, McLaren has turned things around in the past few races. Norris’s P3 in Qualifying at the Hungarian GP is a testament to the MCL60’s strong balance with the recent updates. Lando Norris will be looking to potentially challenge Verstappen and Hamilton at the race start and perhaps provide an upset to the front runners as he tries to challenge for the race win.
Thus, Lando Norris expressed his disappointment post-Qualifying in Hungary. The British driver was eager to grab pole position at the Hungaroring but missed out by the smallest of margins. Although, the 25-year-old remains happy with a positive day for the Woking-based team. Fans would be hoping that Norris can indeed try to claim victory on Sunday.
