Lando Norris is an exciting talent in Formula 1. The British driver is considered on par with the likes of Charles Leclerc and George Russell. However, Norris still remains without a race win in F1 as McLaren struggles with the new regulations. The 23-year-old has been rumored to potentially join Audi in 2026 under the leadership of former McLaren Team Principal Andreas Seidl. Recently, Lando disclosed the reasons for continuing with his current team.
The British driver revealed that people play a major role in his mind. Although the 23-year-old considers himself not as good at judging talent. Norris said, “I think a lot of it for me is personnel, but I’m also not the best person. I don’t know who is amazing, and who isn’t.” The McLaren driver mentioned that the leadership at the team provide him with confidence, including CEO Zak Brown.
Norris said, “When I work with Andreas or with Zak, with Andrea, those are the people that I kind of put my faith in.” However, Norris reckons that Team Principal Andrea Stella is the person who has given him the most trust in his F1 career. The 23-year-old explained, “Andrea gives me a lot of faith, probably the most I’ve seen in my time here in F1. So that’s a good thing.”
The British driver previously had talks with Red Bull for a potential seat alongside Max Verstappen. However, Norris rejected the idea of leaving McLaren. Presently, the 23-year-old is rumored to be on the radar for Mercedes and Audi. Yet, it appears that Lando would prefer to stay with the team with whom he made his F1 debut. His current contract runs until 2025, and Zak Brown has confirmed that there is no exit clause. So, even if he wanted to leave, he couldn’t do it right now.

Lando Norris interested in the new McLaren F1 simulator
McLaren fell behind the top teams in F1 after almost a decade of lack of investment in new technology. Things are about to change at Woking as the team gets its hands on the new state-of-the-art simulator as well as its own wind tunnel. Lando Norris has mentioned these advancements as another pulling factor. The 23-year-old said, “Little bit of new simulator, the simulator is the final piece of the puzzle before you bring an upgrade to real life, it’s a thing that you try on the sim.”
The British driver believed that these additions will change the morale at Woking. As the team will finally have the required technology to match its rivals. Lando stated, “When things are a little bit out of date, they’re not giving you the right feeling, it’s hard to go ‘this is the direction we want, this is the direction we don’t want’ kind of thing.”
Thus, Norris has made it clear that the 23-year-old is happy to stay at McLaren. The British driver has been with the Woking-based team since his junior days. Subsequently, McLaren has provided Lanod with a comfortable environment tailored around him. This indeed has kept Norris away from moving elsewhere on the grid at least for now.
