Lando Norris tipped to get his first Grand Prix win in Las Vegas by F1 veteran: ‘If I had to bet someone, I would do it on him’
Lando Norris has been F1 pundit Davide Valsecchi's pick for the winner of the first-ever edition of the Las Vegas GP.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix has undoubtedly been the most hyped event in this year’s Formula 1 calendar. The race will be held on a 3.8 mile-long track at the famous Vegas Strip and it is expected to host a massive number of celebrities from all circles such as sports, Hollywood, etc. Keeping the fact that it will be an entertainment extravaganza aside, the race itself will be a tough one for all the drivers. There is going to be some terribly low temperature during the night, and this will pose a problem for the racers who need to warm their Pirelli tires. And there are two straights on the track which will allow for some overtaking as well.
All the different factors have gotten the fans wondering what might be the outcome of the first ever edition of the Heineken Silver Las Vegas GP. And according to former racer turned F1 pundit Davide Valsecchi, everyone should have their eyes on Lando Norris for this weekend. Lando and McLaren have both shown vast improvements over the last few races. The Briton got a P2 finish behind only Max Verstappen at the Brazilian GP and the United States GP, and he finished within the top 5 in Mexico too.
Keeping Lando’s recent track record in mind, Davide Valsecchi has claimed he would place his money on the 24-year-old to win at Vegas.
Lando Norris has already won the second-best place on the grid a whopping seven times in his career. But, unfortunately, he remains without a single Grand Prix win even after spending 5 years in Formula 1 since 2019. If Valsecchi’s words are anything to go by, Lando will end McLaren’s dry spell very soon.
I feel that Lando's first victory will come here or in Abu Dhabi. If I had to bet on someone I would do it on him. McLaren has developed a single-seater that works well, and in the last 6-7 GPs Lando has almost always had a very good pace. My feeling is that if anyone will destroy Max's dominance it will be Norris with McLaren.
Lando Norris is optimistic about bringing the fight to Red Bull in 2024
As there are only two Grands Prix left in 2023, all the teams have shifted their focus to developing their challengers for the next season. McLaren had started the current racing calendar with some below-par performances but they improved ever since the British Grand Prix came up. And now, their marqueé driver Lando Norris has claimed the improvement curve will only go higher up for the papaya army.

Speaking of McLaren’s key target to beat in 2024, Lando Norris said it is Red Bull, the team that has been virtually invincible throughout 2023. Lando himself has been second five times this year as he got beaten to the first spot by Max Verstappen and his Red Bull.
We’re talking about one of the best drivers in Formula 1 ever, in one of the most dominating cars. And for us to go from where we were in Bahrain to getting close and talking about fighting a Red Bull, I think are very good signs for us. We know we still have plenty more things to come next year, so I’m excited.Lando Norris said about McLaren’s chances of beating Max Verstappen and Red Bull next year, as reported by Planet F1.
In other news, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s outing in Las Vegas will not be too comfortable as per the reports. The race at the Sin City will take place during the night, when the temperature is expected to drop south of 5°C (41°F). This can be a huge hurdle for all the teams. It remains to be seen if the papaya army can still defeat the odds and help their drivers get a double podium for them at the first ever Las Vegas Grand Prix.
