Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team owner Lawrence Stroll has high hopes for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix. He believes both the Aston Martins can secure podiums at his home Grand Prix this weekend despite Red Bull’s supremacy. The Milton Keynes outfit have emerged strong and won all the seven races held so far. Reigning world champion Max Verstappen won five races, and his teammate Sergio Perez two.
The other consistent driver in the 2023 season is Fernando Alonso, apart from the Red Bull duo. The Aston Martin star secured five podiums contributing to the team’s constructor standings. They are now third in the constructors’ championship but will aim for the runner-up at the least. Lawrence Stroll claims the plan is to get both cars on the podium in Montreal, and he writes off Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton.
Though Hamilton has an impeccable record in Canada, Stroll believes the AMR23 will be quicker than the W14 this Sunday. He also claimed that the track would suit their car better.
Lawrence Stroll spoke at an Aston Martin flagship event in New York and stated that he hopes to see a Canadian driver on the podium at his home Grand Prix. The last time a Canadian driver secured a podium in Montreal was Jacques Villeneuve, with a second-place finish in 1996. Stroll stated, “Those are exactly the plans. Hopefully, get two cars on the podium.”

Lawrence Stroll looks forward to a positive weekend for Aston Martin
Lawrence Stroll added, “I’m extremely confident. I believe the car will be very strong around the Montreal circuit, it suits our car well…so I’m really looking forward to going home and really looking forward to a great race.” He hopes to see his son Lance Stroll and the double world champion Fernando Alonso on the podium this weekend. The 63-year-old is confident in his team and their ability to deliver in Montreal.
Lawrence Stroll believes the team understood their car in the Spanish Grand Prix. He admitted that Aston Martin are bringing upgrades to Canada. The billionaire also claimed that his son Lance and Fernando Alonso “will be equal by the end of the season.” He feels junior Stroll has shown his true form in Barcelona and has improved as a driver.
During the event, Lawrence Stroll was also asked if Alonso would be a part of the team in 2026 when they begin their new partnership with Honda. The Aston Martin owner did not rule out the idea and gave a cheeky response saying never say never.
