“Leading by example at all times,” Aston Martin hails Fernando Alonso for his work ethic

Fernando Alonso announced last year that he would be moving to Aston Martin to take up retiring racer Sebastian Vettel’s seat beside Lance Stroll. Several months have passed since that momentous decision that shook up the 2023 F1 drivers’ market, and Alonso has already participated in three Grands Prix with his new team. Quite amazingly, the Spaniard has shown excellent potential with the Silverstone outfit to back him up. He has scored back-to-back podium places in Bahrain, Jeddah as well as Australia.

As of now, Fernando Alonso is third in the World Championship standings with 45 points to his name, close behind Sergio Perez who is nine points ahead. Alonso’s great results and his drive for perfection at 41 years of age has astounded his Team Principal at Aston Martin Racing, Mike Krack. Krack has commended Alonso’s work ethics, and he has showered praise upon the two-time World Champion for motivating everyone in their team to give their best every weekend.

Speaking on how Fernando Alonso has emerged as a leader after only being at AMR for a few months, Mike Krack said, “He is leading by example at all times. He’s there very early, he’s working really hard, and it is this lead by example that everybody just sees and grabs on and gives an extra level of motivation.

Judging from the results that Fernando Alonso has yielded his new team this early in the season, it is no news that Mike Krack is very satisfied with him. He talked about Fernando Alonso‘s talent, saying, “He brought a lot of energy, a lot of positiveness when he arrived. If someone told me you will have three podiums after the first three races I would have not believed it. But it shows also what a champion we have there. He’s just incredible, his consistency.

Despite the results, Fernando Alonso is already 41, and he is in a business where drivers usually retire from racing by the time they reach their late 30s. But Mike Krack refused to open his mouth to discuss Fernando’s age. He said, “I don’t like to speak about age, about Fernando’s age, about my age also by the way!

Fernando Alonso will be seen donning his bottle-green overalls for Aston Martin once again at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, scheduled to happen in the last weekend of April. Now, it remains to be seen if the Spaniard succeeds in extending his podium-winning streak even further, or if the first three races were simply “beginner’s luck” for him.
