The Mercedes Formula 1 team has ended the 2023 season as the runners-up behind the mighty Red Bull outfit. But everyone is aware of the gap that the Toto Wolff-led outfit had to Max Verstappen and Co. and how much Lewis Hamilton and George Russell struggled behind the wheel of the W14.

With this year’s campaign having become a thing of the past, the focus for Mercedes is on developing a lethal weapon for the 2024 season of the pinnacle of motor racing. Lewis Hamilton feels the situation is tense within the Mercedes camp as the pressure is on to deliver next year.

A lot has been already made about the Brackley-based-teams 2024 prospects and while talking about the pressure on Wolff and Co, Hamilton made it clear that the personnel at Mercedes are in for a hectic winter break after the consecutive season with a disappointing result. They desperately need to move on from the ‘awful W14‘ and have to address Hamilton’s concerns that Red Bull’s dominance might continue beyond this season.

A huge amount for sure. Not just Toto but globally, all of us. Everyone back at the factory, a huge amount of pressure on them. Ultimately, as a boss like Toto, you have to start leaning on people more rather than backing off on them. And how you do that is not easy, as people break at a certain point.
Hamilton said, as reported by Motorsports.com.

Toto Wolff and Co. managed to secure P2 by the skin of their teeth

While the people at Mercedes are hard at work developing a strong car for the 2024 F1 season, the team had a very challenging journey to securing second place in the 2023 Constructors Championship. It was not at all smooth sailing for Mercedes as Ferrari gave them a real fight.

Moreover, at the end of the campaign in Abu Dhabi, Mercedes was able to finish in second place by a margin of only 3 points. The competition between the two iconic brands was neck and neck and their fans definitely had a hard time dealing with it.

However, the season is done and the focus for all the teams has shifted to 2024. Considering everything that has happened so far at Mercedes, it would be fascinating to see what kind of car they would be able to come up with for the 2024 season of the pinnacle of motor racing.
