Jos Verstappen has been vocal about Red Bull’s internal power struggles and the controversies surrounding Christain Horner recently. There have been multiple rumors that have come out after the incidents, including an alleged Max Verstappen to Mercedes rumors. Now seven times F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton discusses the impact Verstappen Sr.’s words had on his son Max Verstappen.
Hamilton pointed out that the drama involving the team boss and the parent of the drivers isn’t always helpful and added that it’s a thin line to walk. The British driver did restrain himself from making any comment on the incident Jos Verstappen was talking about as he didn’t have enough knowledge to give the right opinion.
I don’t know the details of, so I don’t know what he is basing his foundations off. But, at the end of the day, he is not a part of the team, he is a parent. So that’s just an opinion but it’s definitely not helpful. I think it is a very thin line to walk.Hamilton said (H&T: SilverArrows.com).
The British driver stated that he didn’t know the relationship between the two parties. But thinks Verstappen is a grown man, also a champion the British driver added. Hamilton then commented that he thinks Verstappen can make his own decision. Hamilton then concluded it by saying that drivers should think in the right direction as sometimes people are not always guiding you the right way.
I don’t know about his relationship. Obviously, you hear things here and there, but I think Max is a grown man, he’s a champion and I’m sure he can make his own decisions. But I think, in our world as drivers, it is very easy to be misled by people whispering in your ear, and perhaps not guiding you always the right way.Hamilton added.
Lewis Hamilton encounters struggles at Saudi Arabia GP FP2
Lewis Hamilton had another “tough day” of practice in Saudi Arabia, experiencing more problems with his Mercedes equipment. As he and teammate George Russell experimented with various setups on Thursday, the seven-time champion could only manage eighth place in FP2. Russell was the one who gained the most from the W15, finishing the session two-tenths faster than Fernando Alonso.
Following a close call with Logan Sargeant during the session, Hamilton became the focus of a stewards’ investigation. The Mercedes was traveling slowly when the Williams driver encountered it in the middle of the track at turn 11, forcing him to brake quickly. The FIA classified this as a “serious, high-speed crash.”. The 39-year-old’s miserable day came to an end when Mercedes was fined 15,000 euros (£12,800).
Hamilton received a warning for failing to alert the British Sergeant. The British driver has been facing issues with the W15 since the start of the season. Hamilton’s pace compared to Russell is low. But on many occasions, he is still catching up. The British driver career with Mercedes will come to an end in the 2024 season.
