“Dresses like an extra Back to the Future 2,” Lewis Hamilton claps back at haters in Mercedes’ latest ‘Mean Tweets’ edition
Lewis Hamilton has given his response to some of the trolls who always drag his name on social media.
Ever since his Formula One debut with McLaren in 2007, Lewis Hamilton has made waves in the pinnacle of motorsports. He is the living, breathing example that breaks all the preconceived notions that one might harbor in relation to F1. Most fans believe the racers come from the stereotypical ultra-rich families, but Lewis’ father had to work three jobs to pay for his training during the karting days. And some might have noticed that F1 has only gotten White racers and some Asians, but no Black-skinned driver–apart from Lewis Hamilton.
Thus, Lewis has attracted the attention of all the F1 followers–and some adore him while others loathe him. Having amassed a whopping seven World Championship titles till now, he has established himself as an F1 legend of this era, and he still shows no signs of stopping. But Twitter is filled with critics who taunt Lewis at every little point, such as his activism, his fashion choices, and even his complaints to the Mercedes race engineers while driving at a Grand Prix.
Since such a massive figure has to have as many haters as he has his fans, Lewis Hamilton has no qualms against his online trolls. Thus, in Mercedes‘ new video where he was seen reading out some ‘Mean Tweets’ about himself, Lewis’ reaction was quite funny. At most points, he had nothing to say, and while fans might expect the Stevenage man to give some sharp reply tinged with British humor, all he did was give a positive message to even his online haters as he said, “You’re not supposed to love everyone in the world. I wish you nothing but positivity and I still appreciate the comments because they are pretty funny, to be honest.”
Lewis Hamilton brings back a mention of his cameo role in Zoolander 2
Lewis Hamilton has never shied away from standing out amongst the crowd. The Briton has always had a curious sense of style that some people do not like. Thus, one person on the internet mentioned, “Lewis Hamilton dresses like a non-speaking extra from Back To The Future 2.” And another Twitter user commented, “I sometimes think Lewis Hamilton is just a character from Zoolander.” In reply to this, Lewis Hamilton reminded his fans that he did indeed play a part in Zoolander 2 alongside Hollywood veterans like Ben Stiller.
Other tweets picked out by Mercedes were on Lewis Hamilton’s always positive attitude and his activism–the user said, “Lewis Hamilton is so draining man. Can’t the guy just say a sentence without curing world peace or just being a mad hippy?” To this, Lewis responded, “What do you want me to say? I’m a positive guy.” Another tweet bore reference to an old Lewis Hamilton video where he seemed actually scared of an onion that had suddenly appeared in his car.
Lewis Hamilton is indeed one of the biggest stars in the F1 world, and his fame has reached outside of the sport as well. He has had several accomplishments in the fields of fashion, philanthropy, and whatnot. Thus, on the journey towards being such an icon, it is natural that he has acquired some haters on the way. But Lewis does not have any qualms about it, as he ended his video saying that everyone should be able to establish their own opinions on thing and it is okay that some people do not like him. His attitude towards the haters has garnered a lot of admiration from the fans on Twitter and other social media sites.
