While Mercedes are eager to have Lewis on board for the upcoming F1 seasons, the Stevenage man is pushing for a ‘special clause’ to be included in the documents. If sources are to be believed, the clause makes way for the assumption that this will be Lewis Hamilton’s last contract with Mercedes in F1, after which, he will bow out of the king class of motorsports but will remain as an ambassador for the Brackley outfit.

Last time, Lewis Hamilton had signed up for remaining as a Mercedes driver in 2021, and his contract ends in December, 2023. While an extension was always on the cards, conversations regarding the same were stalled when Mercedes failed to provide him with a Championship-worthy car and Lewis ended the 2022 season with zero Grand Prix wins. In fact, some F1 pundits like Martin Brundle and Eddie Jordan were even bold enough to suggest Lewis Hamilton should look for other teams in order to keep his hopes for an eighth title ignited.

Despite all rumors, Lewis has proven that loyalty comes on top of everything else as he is now all but confirmed to be staying back at the team that he had joined back in 2012. This puts the onus on Mercedes to make a competent car to pay Lewis back for his trust on them, helping him break Michael Schumacher’s record by winning another F1 title in the upcoming seasons.
